Chairmans's Message:
The Central Association of Christian Cooperatives (CACCO) Ltd. was established on May 1, 2007, with the aim of preventing loan default in our Christian cooperative societies and building a dignified Christian society. Although the prevention of defaulted loans was the primary objective, CACCO Ltd. has been proudly working for over 18 years to enhance the quality of Christian cooperatives. We, the current Management Committee, were elected on June 20, 2025, and officially assumed office on June 28, 2025. We extend our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to all previous Boards, especially to the outgoing Chairman Mr. Pankaj Gilbert Costa, under whose capable leadership CACCO has reached its present stage.
Currently, CACCO operates with 60 full member societies across Bangladesh. At the time of registration with the Department of Cooperatives on July 19, 2012, CACCO’s operational area was confined to Dhaka Division only. Later, on January 5, 2023, through Order No. 03 of the Honorable Registrar and Director General of the Department of Cooperatives, Mymensingh Division was added to CACCO's operational area alongside Dhaka Division. This allowed CACCO to extend beyond a regional body into a national-level institution. Most notably, on March 20, 2024, through Order No. 47.61.0000.065.33.003.16.63/1(76), the Department of Cooperatives approved the entire country as CACCO’s operational area. CACCO has already become an associate member of the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU). It is now actively working to spread the spirit of cooperatives both nationally and internationally. We believe that as the national federation of all Christian cooperatives in Bangladesh, CACCO will continue to grow stronger through united efforts.
A long-cherished dream of CACCO was to establish its own office. You may already know that this dream has come true. CACCO has purchased its own office flat in Monipuripara, Dhaka. The full payment and registration were completed on June 15, 2022, and the office was officially inaugurated on June 18, 2022. Regular office operations have been running from this beautifully decorated office since January 1, 2022.
I am pleased to inform you that the 5th Open Forum of CACCO, held in Sylhet, approved a 13-point declaration. One of these points was to establish a permanent office building and training institute. The current Management Committee has initiated work on this goal. Already, 10 bighas of land have been purchased, including advance and registration, in Bhashania village, Paroan Mouza of Gazipur district after inspecting several potential plots. We hope to begin the construction of the office and training institute soon. In line with the decision of the 11th Annual General Meeting and CACCO’s 2nd triennial and strategic plan, investment activities have been launched this fiscal year. Around 30 bighas of land have already been purchased in Paroan Mouza, Mathbari Mouza, and Nagori Mouza of Kaliganj, Gazipur. To encourage member cooperatives in productive ventures, CACCO has established a livestock farm on this land. Alongside livestock and fish farming, 1,000 fruit trees have been planted, and various crops such as paddy, ginger, and “chuijhal” are being cultivated. These initiatives contribute to both productive enterprise and environmental conservation. Additionally, 24 plots (each 3 katha in size) have been purchased at Purbachal Probashi Palli in Narayanganj, and 10 plots have been bought at Dhaka-Mawa City.
To prevent loan default, CACCO has implemented the CACCO Credit Monitoring System (CCMS). Based on our loan disbursement knowledge and experience, a user-friendly, online database software has been developed to deliver quick and efficient services. The software is accessible anytime, anywhere, and is hosted on CACCO’s own server. Currently, 18 member cooperatives are regularly using the software. We earnestly invite all member cooperatives to adopt the system to expand their networks and minimize loan risks.
Our Christian cooperatives are growing day by day and adopting modern software technology. However, many cooperatives are not yet skilled in software operation or lack necessary training, resulting in discrepancies between manual and software accounts. To address this issue, CACCO is conducting internal audits and accounting services with great reputation to ensure transparency and accuracy. These audits are performed both manually and digitally as per the cooperative’s needs. There is high demand for these services from both member and non-member cooperatives. We’ve also reapplied to the relevant office for approval to conduct statutory audits.
To make cooperatives/credit unions sustainable, strong, and self-reliant, CACCO is regularly organizing quality training using modern technology for cooperative leaders, workers, students, and prospective youth leaders. Our training topics include management, accounting, loan management, financial management, leadership development, human resource development, staff skill improvement, office management, risk management, product development, and marketing. Once our own training institute is established, we plan to launch a Diploma in Cooperatives. We are pleased to share that 13 of our training modules have already been approved by the Department of Cooperatives. In addition to ongoing training, customized trainings are also being conducted as per the needs of cooperatives.
Most cooperatives are now using accounting software for financial management. However, existing market software have limitations. For a long time, there has been a need for a cooperative-friendly, comprehensive solution. To address this, The Christian Cooperative Credit Union Ltd., Dhaka has developed a complete software solution in partnership with CACCO to serve all cooperatives. This software will manage not only accounting but all operational functions of a cooperative. Its user-friendliness and inclusion of modern banking features will make operations significantly easier.
CACCO is tirelessly working to protect the interests of its member cooperatives. We are regularly accepting fixed deposits from member cooperatives and running loan investment programs. You’ve seen that CACCO ensures 100% transparency in its accounts and shares profits with its members, making investments safe and highly profitable. আমাদের খ্রীষ্টান সমবায় সমিতিসমূহের খেলাপী ঋণ প্রতিরোধ করতঃ একটি মর্যাদাশীল খ্রীষ্টীয় সমাজ বির্নিমাণে ১ মে, ২০০৭ খ্রিস্টাব্দে গঠিত হয়েছিল দি সেন্ট্রাল এসোসিয়েশন অব খ্রিস্টান কো-অপারেটিভস্ (কাক্কো) লিঃ। খেলাপী ঋণ প্রতিরোধ এর মূল লক্ষ্য হলেও খ্রীষ্টান সমবায় সমিতিসমূহের গুণগত মান উন্নয়নে ১৮ বছরের ও অধিক সময় যাবৎ সগৌরবে কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করেছে কাক্কো লিঃ। আমরা বর্তমান ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিষদ গত ২০ জুন, ২০২৫ খ্রিস্টাব্দ তারিখে নির্বাচিত হয়ে ২৮ জুন, ২০২৫ খ্রিস্টাব্দ তারিখে দায়িত্বভার গ্রহণ করেছি। আন্তরিক ধন্যবাদ ও কৃতজ্ঞতা জানাই বিগত সকল বোর্ডকে বিশেষ করে বিদায়ী চেয়ারম্যান মিঃ পংকজ গিলবার্ট কস্তা’কে, যাঁর সুযোগ্য নেতৃত্বে কাক্কো আজকে এ পর্যায়ে এসে উপনীত হয়েছে।
বর্তমানে ৬০টি পূর্ণ সদস্য সমিতি নিয়ে সারা বাংলাদেশের মধ্যে কাক্কো’র কার্যক্রম পরিচালিত হচ্ছে। ১৯ জুলাই, ২০১২ খ্রিস্টাব্দে সমবায় অধিদপ্তরে নিবন্ধনকালে কাক্কো’র কর্মএলাকা নির্ধারণ করে দেয়া ছিল শুধুমাত্র ঢাকা বিভাগ পর্যন্ত। পরবর্তীতে, ৫ জানুয়ারী, ২০২৩ খ্রিস্টাব্দ তারিখে সমবায় অধিদপ্তরের মাননীয় নিবন্ধক ও মহাপরিচালক মহোদয়ের আদেশ নং-০৩ এর মাধ্যমে ঢাকা বিভাগের পাশাপাশি ময়মনসিংহ বিভাগও কাক্কো’র কর্মএলাকা হিসেবে অনুমোদন লাভ করে। এর মাধ্যমে কাক্কো লিঃ বিভাগ ছাড়িয়ে জাতীয় পর্যায়ে পা রাখে। বিগত ২০ মার্চ, ২০২৪ খ্রিস্টাব্দ তারিখে সমবায় অধিদপ্তরের মাননীয় নিবন্ধক ও মহাপরিচালক মহোদয়ের আদেশ নং-৪৭.৬১.০০০০.০৬৫.৩৩.০০৩.১৬.৬৩/১(৭৬) এর মাধ্যমে সমগ্র বাংলাদেশ কাক্কো’র কর্মএলাকা হিসেবে অনুমোদন লাভ করেছে। ইতিমধ্যে কাক্কো এসোসিয়েশন অব এশিয়ান কনফেডারেশন অব ক্রেডিট ইউনিয়স্ (আকু)’র এসোসিয়েট সদস্যপদ লাভ করেছে। বর্তমানে বাংলাদেশসহ আন্তর্জাতিক অঙ্গনে সমবায়ের আলো ছড়িয়ে দিতে সগৌরবে কাজ করছে কাক্কো লিঃ। আমরা বিশ্বাস করি, বাংলাদেশের সকল খ্রীষ্টান সমবায় সমিতির জাতীয় ফেডারেশন হিসেবে কাক্কো লিঃ-কে সুদৃঢ়ভাবে এগিয়ে নিতে ঐক্যবদ্ধভাবে কাজ করে যাবো।
